All About Easyfold Batteries

We often get asked about our EasyFold batteries, so we thought it wouldn’t be a bad idea to write a blog on batteries and what makes our batteries special than most out on the market. Our batteries are portable, long-lasting, and outrageously dependable. One of the best attributes of EasyFold wheelchairs are the batteries and they are one of our product’s USP too.

Normally power wheelchairs and scooters use very bulky and heavy sealed lead acid batteries, but EasyFold uses removable Lithium Ion Batteries that are built into the frame. Our Easy Fold Standard model comes with one removable LiFePO4 Lithium-ion, 24V 10aH battery which lasts a maximum of 20 km under normal operating conditions and it can go up to 40 km when equipped with another battery. On the other hand, our Easy Fold Elite model comes with two removable LiFePO4 Lithium-ion, 24V 6aH batteries that can travel 24 km on a single charge. Read that one more time and let it sink in. Can travel 24 km on a single charge. Lithium-ion batteries are common in consumer electronics and they are one of the most popular types of rechargeable batteries for portable electronics. The life cycle of a lithium battery is measured in charge cycles with an average of 1000 charge cycles.

Charging batteries are important, but how long we charge the batteries; and how often we charge the batteries plays a vital role in the longevity of battery life. We consider 5-6 hours as optimal charging time. There are three different ways you can charge our EasyFold Elite batteries. You can charge both the batteries at the same time by leaving them in the frame or by taking your charger and plugging it right into the joystick. You can also charge them individually from the actual battery pack itself.

Our Standard model battery weighs 4 lbs and is powered by two 180 Brushless Motors and our Elite Model batteries weigh 3 lbs each (Elite Model comes with two batteries). We believe the placement of the battery is very important and some power wheelchairs put the batteries under the seat, which takes away from having additional storage. Our batteries are in the frame of the wheelchair rather than in the arm, so the need to remove the batteries every time we fold the wheelchair is not required.
